European Commission approves project on construction of Strouma Motorway, Lots 1, 2 and 4

The European Commission approved a project on the construction of Lots 1,2 and 4 of the Strouma Motorway, funded under Operational Programme Transport through the EU Cohesion Fund and national co-financing.

The project’s investment value totals 342 million euro, of which 274 million euro are provided under the EU Cohesion Fund.

The project implementation involves the construction of a section of 68.5 km of the motorway and preparation of the construction of Lot 3, which runs via the Kresna Gorge.

The construction of the Strouma Motorway will ensure higher speed and enhance security along the new sections. It will enhance communications and the conditions for economic development in the regions, through which it runs.
