Construction of Nova Zagora – Yambol Section of Trakiya Motorway Launched

The ground for Lot 3 of Trakiya Motorway was dug at Nova Zagora road junction. The section from Nova Zagora to Yambol will have a length of 34.3 km and will be constructed under the project, Completion of Trakiya Motorway. The project is financed under the EU Cohesion Fund through OP Transport 2007-2013.

According to the plan, the road will be a four-lane one. The value of the section is 111.6 million BGN (before VAT). The section is expected to be completed ahead of schedule - in June 2012. 

The contractor-company gave assurances that state-of-the-art equipment and technologies will be used in the construction and they will involve Bulgarian workers in the construction activities.

Attending the ceremony were Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria Boyko Borissov, Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Rosen Plevneliev, Bozhidar Yotov, Chairman of the Management Board of the Road Infrastructure Agency, Dimitrios Koutras, President of the Greek contractor-company and the mayors of the municipalities, via which the Trakiya Motorway will run.
