Minister Danail Papazov participated in the opening ceremony of "Trakia" highway

The Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications, Danail Papazov, participated in the official opening ceremony of the last section of "Trakia" highway today. The event was further attended by the President of the Republic of Bulgaria, Rosen Plevneliev, Minister of Regional Development, Desislava Terzieva, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Agency "Road Infrastructure", Lazar Lazarov.

The overall length of Lot 4 - from Yambol to Karnobat is 49.08 kilometers. This is the longest and most complex part of the construction of "Trakia" highway. Pursuant to the supplementary agreement, the Lot was divided into two stages. In August 2012, the section from the road junction of Yambol to the newly built junction of Zimnitsa (Lot 4.1) was opened. Lot 4.2, which was opened today, covers about 34 km between junction "Zimnitsa" and Burgas and it the last part which fully completes "Trakia" highway.

The contractor for the construction works of Lot 4 is Association "Trakia IV" OCAC. The contract value is 209 646 720,00 lev with VAT.

The "Completion of “Trakia” highway Lot 2, 3 and 4" project is co-financed by the Cohesion Fund of the European Union and the state budget of the Republic of Bulgaria through the Operational Programme "Transport". The highway is part of the Trans-European Transport Corridor VIII. Its construction is a priority infrastructure project of national and international importance. The overall length of the "Completion of “Trakia” highway Lot 2, 3 and 4" project, funded by the OP "Transport", is 115 km.
