Minister Moskovski Attends Opening of Stara Zagora–Nova Zagora Section of Trakia Motorway

Minister of Transport, Information Technologies and Communications Ivailo Moskovski attended the official inauguration of the Stara Zagora–Nova Zagora section of the Trakia Motorway. This is one of the most important link to the Bulgarian Black Sea coastal area and is a part of the project “Completion of Trakia Motorway, Lots 2, 3 and 4”, financed under OP Transport.

The construction of the Stara Zagora–Nova Zagora section was launched in June 2010 and was completed ahead of schedule. The project is of the value of about 137.8 million leva.

In connection with the opening of the new section of the Trakia Motorway, Minister Moskovski commented that over 90% of the third lot – from Nova Zagora to Yambol - have already been implemented. “I hope that by the end of July we will succeed to complete the whole route by the Petoluchkata road junction,” Ivailo Moskovski also said. The construction of this section began in August 2010.

60 per cent progress has been reported in the construction of Lot 4 Yambol–Karnobat. The project is of the worth of 209.6 million leva, while its construction was launched in October 2010.

94 % or nearly 1.9 billion leva have been contracted under OP Transport so far. Over 31% or nearly 625 million euro have been paid out. 11 big infrastructure projects are in the process of implementation.

Attending the inauguration ceremony were EU Commissioner for Regional Policy Johannes Hahn, President Rosen Plevneliev, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and cabinet ministers.
