Operational Programme "Transport" is the program with one of the best financial indicators. This was said by the Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Danail Papazov during the Monitoring Committee of the European Programme. The event takes place on 14 and 15 November.

"Everything done by now is due to the hard work of the Managing Authority, but also the efforts of all our partners within the government and in the NGO sector", said Minister Papazov. According to him, without the help of Jaspers initiative and the support of the European Commission our country would not have been able to achieve all objectives.

Operational Programme "Transport" enters its final stage of implementation. The two years remaining until the end of the program are essential for its successful implementation. "The beneficiaries are required to make every effort for the successful completion of the scheduled projects under the Operational Programme "Transport" and I will personally monitor the process", said Danail Papazov. At the beginning of November the totally awarded grants amount to more than 3.86 billion lev, or almost 99% of program’s budget. Beneficiaries were paid over 2 billion lev, which is 53% of the total budget.

Parallel to the implementation of this programme, we are preparing for the new programming period, where environmental transport is a priority. It is mostly associated with rail and water transport. The focus of our policy falls on the development of modern intermodality, based on their optimal use. A long list of projects is available, as the major challenge is to strike a balance between the need to improve the transport infrastructure and the available funding”, said Minister Papazov.

During the Monitoring Committee of the Operational Programme "Transport" all beneficiaries will present the progress on the implemented projects. The meeting is chaired by the Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Petar Kirov and involves representatives of the local and the executive power, NGOs, trade unions, experts from the European Commission and others.
