16 April 2015 A+AA-

The Minister of Transport, Information Technology and Communications Ivaylo Moskovski and the Mayor of Municipality of Burgas Dimitar Nikolov inspected the construction works at the railway stations of Burgas and Vladimir Pavlov today. Currently there is an ongoing modernization of the two stations under projects that are financed by Operational Program Transport 20007-2013.

During the inspection at the station in Burgas Minister Moskovski said that he will not compromise with passengers’ safety as well as with the deadlines for project completion. He called for uninterrupted work mode during the spring and summer seasons so as to compensate for the delays with the projects. The Minister assured that the contractor companies will have the full support of the contracting authority and hopes for earlier completion of the projects. Ivaylo Moskovski added that is realistic to have the station of Burgas completed one or two months earlier, that is by November this year.

Later Minister Moskovski inspected Lot 2 and Lot 3 of the project for modernization of the railway line Plovdiv – Burgas. He visited the stations at Karnobat and Yambol and Karnobat - Tserkovski. The physical progress for both sections is respectively 93% for Lot 2 and 77% for Lot 3. The inspection reported significant delays and weaknesses in the implementation of Lot 3 of the project, carried out by  “СК-13 Transstroi” АD.

The project “Rehabilitation of railway sections along the line Plovdiv – Burgas” is divided into three parts, each implemented by DZZD „GCF - СК 13 – Trace Rail Infra Consortium“. Lot 2 is at the total length of 120 km and encompasses the section from Stara Zagora to Zimnitsa, including the rehabilitation of the railway sections Stara Zagora  - Zavoy and Zavoy – Zimnitsa. The construction works in the Lot are to be completed by the end of 2015. Lot 3 encompasses the section Tserovski – Karnobat and Karnobat – Burgas and has a total length of 150 km. It is to be completed by November 2015.

The Minister inspected the spot and construction works along the line Parvomai – Svilengrad. The contractor assured the Minister that the project will be completed in time, before the end of the year, and no funds from the program will be lost.

The Minister visited the railway stations at Harmanli and Dimitrovgrad, the latter being included in the scope of the project, as well as the stations at Svilengrad – both the cargo and the passenger ones. “We are to carry out studies and design an intermodal terminal that is to facilitate the road network in the region and allow for the transfer of transit cargo transportation from road to rail transport mode.”, said Minister Moskovski in Svilengrad.

The project “Reconstruction and electrification of the railway line Plovdiv – Svilengrad along corridors IV and IX, Lot 2: Parvomai – Svilengrad section” is financed under OPT 2007-2013. The value of the whole project is about 390 million levs and the physical progress at the moment is 64%.
